Birch is a domestic hardwood.  There is a wide range of color differences in Yellow Birch.  (This Birch can be selected for white pieces)  The diffuse-porous heartwood is light to dark golden-brown to light reddish brown.  The sapwood is whitish, pale yellow or light reddish brown.  This hard lumber is strong and very often wavy or curly.  It is a closed grain wood of even texture.
